Research Admin Application Systems Analyst

Job Summary:

Under general supervision, formulates and defines system scope and objectives through research and fact-finding to develop or modify moderately complex information systems which support the research regulatory community.

 

Job Duties:

1.     Prepares detailed specifications of component level requirements that are fully traceable to system level requirements.

2.     Analyzes and revises existing system logic difficulties and documentation as necessary, to understand basic root-cause of issues and propose possible solutions within current systems.

3.     Researches and fact-finds to formulate and define systems scope and objectives, as well as modify moderately complex information systems.

4.     Monitors research applications for performance and performs ongoing maintenance and configuration updates as needed.

5.     Performs regular testing and analysis on research application systems.

6.     Collaborates with application support team, institutional stakeholders, and vendors.

7.     Generates well-structured documentation with detailed specifications for research admin application sustainment, issues reporting, and modification recommendations.

8.     Provides reporting outputs that can be integrated with multiple solutions.

9.     Provides technical support and troubleshooting to end-users.

10.  Performs all other duties as assigned.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

1.     Competent to work on most phases of applications systems analysis activities but requires minimal instruction and guidance in other phases.

2.     Strong problem-solving, analytical, and business analysis skills.

3.     An understanding of software development lifecycle.

4.     Ability to work both independently and collaboratively and to receive work direction from direct and indirect leadership.

5.     Proficiency using CASE tools for designing and implementing applications.

6.     Experience working in an environment with regulatory compliance requirements (HIPAA, etc.).

7.     Demonstrated understanding of Microsoft SQL

8.     Demonstrated experience working with datasets in tools such as Tableau, PowerBI, and Python or other reporting platforms.

 

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field is required.

Will accept experience in lieu of education.

 

Experience:

Minimum two (2) years of experience in systems analysis/programming activities in a business environment is required.

Three (3) years or more experience is strongly preferred.
