The German Maritime Centre is an independent, publicly funded, cross-industry institution based in Hamburg that supports the maritime industry at national, European and international level. We draw on the industry’s innovative capacity and on topics of the future such as fossil-free, emissions-free propulsion systems, autonomous shipping, and recruiting young talent.

As a cross-sectoral player, we intend to expand and intensify interdisciplinary exchange within the maritime sector as well as with other economic sectors, but also with politics, science and public authorities.

  • Analysing the European Commission’s and the member states’ proposals on the design and content of new funding programmes;

  • Supporting the substantive work of the European maritime associations, technology platforms and partnerships by coordinating and advising in the relevant bodies;
  • Monitoring and analysing emerging project initiatives and providing information;
  • Supporting German stakeholders in participating in the current calls for proposals of the European funding programmes by providing up-to-date information;
  • Analysing funded projects and German participation;
  • Identifying barriers to broader participation and use of project results;
  • Coordinating with German stakeholders and federal ministries;
  • Developing a strategic direction for the design of funding programmes.

  • Successfully completed university degree (master’s degree or master’s equivalent Diplom) in political science, economics, law, engineering or comparable;
  • Professional experience in project management or in the field of scientific project controlling;
  • Experience in managing of web applications;
  • Knowledge of addressing cross-sectional maritime topics;
  • Cross-industry, strategic mindset;
  • Very good English-language skills, good written and spoken German-language skills;
  • Willingness to travel within Europe;
  • Open, integrative and constructive working and communication style within and outside the team.

  • A challenging and varied range of tasks;
  • Activities in which you have responsibility and creative freedom;
  • A good-humoured and competent team that is always ready to help you with advice and support;
  • Work at the shipyard with us; mobile working and flexible working hours;
  • Company pension plan.

We offer you a crisis-proof job, which will initially be a fixed-term position until 31 December 2023 due to project financing. Remuneration is based on the collective wage agreement for the federal public sector (TVöD Bund). A grouping up to pay group 14 TVöD is carried out in compliance with § 12 TVöD with regard to the actual activities to be performed and the fulfilment of the personal or collective agreement requirements.
