Roles and responsibilities:
Administrative and project support
- Regular update of databases of journalists, UK alumni and other Embassy’s stakeholders
- Organising meetings, booking venues and writing summaries of team meetings.
- Map and collate the Embassy activities calendar and soft-power initiatives with British participation, raising relevant communication opportunities
- Provide administrative and logistic support during the Chevening interview process, which consist of over 400 applications.
Research and reporting
- Contributing to the media and social media reports and clippings when needed
- Assist in the research for one pagers and briefings for our state visits, events, activities, projects and campaigns
- Support in compiling information for the Embassy weekly newsletter on LinkedIn, monthly internal Chevening newsletter and the new Chevening Network website
Media, social media and branding support
- Support on the inventory and team requests of branding assets
- Proposing, creating and/or editing basic audio-visual material for our social media and internal/external campaigns (videos, photos, and infographics)
- Source photos and visuals for our events and projects
Event support
- Assist in events (press conferences, interviews, receptions, other) with:
a. Logistics
b. Branding set up
c. Confirmations and follow ups
d. Calendar appointments - Photo coverage of events when needed
- Follow-up on preparations for scholars’ pre-departure and welcome back events
Engagement support
- Providing information to Chevening Alumni Mexico executive committee (mainly requests from Post to be published/uploaded on their channels – eg newsletter and Instagram account)
- Prepare kits, briefing materials, giveaway boxes and other materials for meetings, events and media campaigns
- Networking with other interns for support the Public Diplomacy initiatives

- Studying or just graduated from an undergraduate degree in International Relations, Communications, Journalism, Media, education or International Development.
- Excellent analytical, interpersonal, and communications skills in both English and Spanish, able to facilitate relationship with a wide range of stakeholders.
- We are looking for an enthusiastic, pro-active and self-motivated intern.
- Excellent computer skills, particularly MS Outlook and MS Office packages, as well as video editing packages.
- Experience and interest in communication strategies to highlight the UK’s soft power.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to summarize information.
- Capacity for flexibility and willingness to work to meet deadlines.
- Organization skills
- Social media-savvy (X, LinkedIn, Instagram).

Candidates must be able to live and work in Mexico in their own right at time of application.
The successful candidate will be subject to a security clearance and professional reference checks.
Employees who are not liable to pay local income tax on their Mission salary, eg some non-local national staff and some spouses or partners of UK diplomatic staff, will have their salaries abated by an equivalent amount.
Appointable candidates who were unsuccessful may be placed on a ‘reserve list’. If during the reserve period of 6 months the same or a largely similar role becomes available, that role may be offered to the second or subsequent candidate.
