Job description

We are looking for a full-time data analyst to join our Trade & Statistics team. This role is responsible to support the Trade & Statistics department by collecting and analysing industry datasets related to market intelligence, trade, recycling and sustainability to develop our aluminium industry knowledge and our industry advocacy with facts and figures.

Reporting to: Director Trade, Statistics & Economics

Main tasks and duties

  1. Market intelligence & Statistical analysis
  • Collecting and processing of data (e.g. production, consumption, by market end uses) from the aluminium producers in Europe, from metal supply (primary and recycling) to semi fabrication (rolling and extrusions) and users with respect for confidentiality
  • Extracting and analysing customs trade data (on regular and on ad hoc basis) for various aluminium products
  • Aggregating and visualisation of the results (e.g. graphs, tables) in ad hoc MS pack office solutions (e.g. Power Point, Excel, Word). The knowledge of data visualization tools (e.g. Tableau software) is a plus
  • Assisting the team in organising (e.g. logistic and content support) twice per year the various statistical committee meetings (e.g. Primary Division Statistics Committee, Short Term Panel Committee)
  • Supporting the Senior Manager Sustainability & Economic data on other data collection / analysis related to sustainability (e.g. safety, environmental and life cycle assessment data) and to develop further recycling / circular economy (e.g. aluminium waste & scrap) statistics
  • Supporting on ad hoc basis members related to their market intelligence or trade data requests.
  1. Trade
  • Quarterly data collection of company information in the frame of trade defense case (anti-dumping etc.): very confidential work
  • Processing of data & develop visuals for presentation (graphs, tables, slides etc.), editing documents, updating database, etc.
  • General help depending on the needs (may include taking minutes and setting up calls)

         3. Office/General support

  • Support in preparing and organising internal and external meetings, calls or web-conferences, drafting minutes, preparing presentations and background notes
  • General support: members database (Extranet), travel arrangements and accommodation, depending on the needs

Knowledge, experience, interests and skills

  • Relevant studies on university level: Economics, Business, sciences or similar
  • Strong analytical skills. Experience in collecting and analysing data. Knowledge of data visualisation tools (e.g. Tableau software) is a plus
  • Excellent knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook
  • Strong organisational skills, ability to work in team and willingness to help and learn
  • Ability to work autonomously, ability to prioritise workload effectively
  • Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English
  • An interest in EU affairs
