The British Embassy in Sofia is part of the United Kingdom’s diplomatic service, a worldwide network representing British political, economic and consular interests in Bulgaria. The British Embassy is looking for a Campaigns and Digital Officer.

As a Campaigns and Digital Officer you will manage and maintain British Embassy Sofia’s digital communications across a number of social media channels. The Job holder will coordinate and plan digital activity across the Embassy, as well as draft posts and will also work across a number of strategic campaigns, and design content in order to support the wider work of the team and Embassy.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Digital and Social Media: Oversee the day-to-day management of the British Embassy social media accounts the Embassy’s GOV.UK website and create effective digital content including producing videos, infographics, and drafting social media copy;
  • Media and Press: provide support by media monitoring and reporting, provide support for media engagement and at press events;
  • Strategic Communications: provide support in delivering Strategic Campaigns and Public Diplomacy activities, promoting UK/Bulgarian bilateral relations;
  • Sharing Skills: promoting good practise around using digital and building capacity across Embassy teams looking for creative ways to integrate digital into all areas of the Embassy’s work.

  • Fluent English and Bulgarian (both written and spoken, minimum C1 Level for CEFR framework*);
  • Experience of managing social media accounts and digital platforms;
  • Experience of producing and editing digital content for social media (info-graphics, videos, photos, visual appealing posts, etc. on tools such as Photoshop, Premiere Pro, iMovie);
  • Experience of drafting written content (tweets, FB posts etc.) for digital channels;
  • Enthusiastic, energetic and highly creative team player with a passion for public communications.

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a related field;
  • Experience of developing successful public communication campaigns;
  • Graphic design skills;
  • Good understanding of design and how to integrate digital ideas into campaigns;
  • Experience or knowledge of working in an international environment;
  • Experience working with (Bulgarian) media;
  • Event management.

This is a full-time, temporary position (36 hours per week) for a 9 months contract until 31 March 2022. The successful candidate will receive a monthly salary of BGN 1,828.76 gross.

The successful candidate will be subject to confirmation of a background and security clearance. Anyone with right of residence and employment in Bulgaria may apply, including all EU/EEA citizens and the family members of EU/EEA nationals exercising a treaty right in Bulgaria.

Staff recruited locally by the British Embassy are subject to Terms and Conditions Service according to Bulgarian employment law.

Visa/work permit requirements: candidates must currently hold the independent right to live and work in Bulgaria and be prepared to ensure that right remains throughout the scope of the contract.
