CONTEXT
Oxfam works in the Democratic Republic of Congo since the 1960s. This is one of the largest Oxfam programmes in the World. Oxfam works in the areas of Water and Sanitation, Livelihoods, Protection, Gender, Governance and Humanitarian response. The programme is developed in the East in a context of conflict and in the West in a context of stability and deep poverty. Despite challenges Oxfam envisions to apply in DRC a Rights Based Approach on its programmes in DRC. Oxfam as a confederation has experienced an exceptional challenge in terms of fundraising caused by the different changes in the world. This situation is exceptionally dramatic with Oxfam GB because of Brexit complicated by COVID 19. Oxfam GB has therefore announced its commitment to reshape and resize its organizational and operational models ensuring its structures and cost base align with the trends in unrestricted income generation.
The HR team supports the Country Director and line managers in Country to ensure human resource management contributes to and is aligned to the organisational goals and to enhance the country programme’s performance through its people.
THE ROLE
The People Culture Change Manager will work closely with Country senior management team to build an open, transparent, customer-obsessed culture where our people feel safe, confident, and empowered to provide an opportunity to enable staff recognise how their work can support Oxfam in tackling poverty together. We are looking for a People, Culture and change manager to help grow and foster our organizational culture as well as to support and create an excellent employee experience a time the Country has gone through a 1st phase of a change process and in readiness of the 3rd phase. This role will also take lead in supporting the Country Director and the SMT in attracting, recruiting, developing, and retaining the very best people to help Oxfam in DRC achieve its goals.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Oxfam in DRC is looking for someone able to demonstrate sensitivity to cultural differences and gender issues, as well as the commitment to equal opportunities, and an openness and willingness to learn about the application of gender/gender mainstreaming, women’s rights, and diversity for all aspects of development work
The person should have : at least ten years’ experience in HR Business Partnering or related high-level specialist role, a strong consultation skills and experience influencing and interacting with senior Managers, an experience in managing change in a diverse team, an outstanding people and client relationship skills., proficient in coaching, mediating, influencing, facilitation, presentation, communication, analysis, and problem solving, a bachelor’s degree from a college or university and seven or more years of related human resources experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Preferred Skills, a ‘People’ person with strong business acumen in multi-national environment, and knowledge of both English and French
