Tara is a new philanthropic re-granting initiative in Asia that supports a diverse group of partners to accelerate the transition to sustainable, clean energy. Tara is currently hosted at the European Climate Foundation, but with a mandate to localise and become an independent Asia-based regional foundation in the future. The Role
The Senior Operations Director is responsible for ensuring professional operational management of an exciting multimillion-dollar programme and organisation. Reporting to the Managing Director of Tara, you will lead the design and planning of the operational and financial structure of a new foundation. Once Tara becomes an independent organisation, you will have overall responsibility for the operational and financial management of the entire organisation.
You will be responsible for:
- Managing operational and administrative functions including grant making, finance, human resources, and technology.
- Overseeing all financial management including managing budgets, forecasts, and cash flow.
- Implementing a robust financial management and reporting system.
- Establishing Tara’s human resources capacity and ensuring professional staff development.
- Leading all aspects of the organisation’s grant making administration.
- Developing and implementing all necessary organisational policies.
- Recruiting and line managing a culturally and functionally diverse operations team.
Skills Required
You will be a visionary Senior Operations Director with several years of cross-functional management experience, including scaling up operations, gained in a similar role. You will be excited at the prospect of working for a fast-growing organisation with a mission to solve the climate crisis.
Additionally you offer:
- 10+ years’ senior operations leadership role managing similar functions in a related organization.
- Deep understanding of several operational areas, including finance, technology, and HR systems.
- Broad experience including strategic development and planning, budgeting, business analysis, finance, information systems, human resources, and marketing.
- Experience managing complexity and a wide scope of responsibilities.
- Exceptional capacity for managing, leading and developing teams, as well as a hands-on approach.
- High standards of integrity, ethics, and teamwork.
- Outstanding verbal and written skills, and experience working with staff on all levels.
- Experience living and working in Asia; fluency in an Asian language would be an asset.
- Candidates with a legal permit to reside and work in Singapore will be strongly preferred.
