Project HOPE is looking for several highly skilled professionals to support a CDC-funded Global Healthcare Detection and Response program will enhance detection and response to infectious disease threats in healthcare facilities globally by developing networks to implement prevention and containment strategies at local, national, and regional levels. Interventions to prevent, detect, and respond to infectious disease threats in healthcare, including antimicrobial resistance (AMR), healthcare associated infections (HAIs), and COVID-19, will be developed and implemented within networks. The NOFO will also improve the detection of emerging AMR and identify AMR risk factors and prevention strategies across healthcare and the community to inform global AMR containment efforts. The positions for this NOFO are relevant to Component 1: Detect and Response to Infectious Disease Threats in Healthcare Facilities. The strategies include (1) Prevent Transmission of Infections in Healthcare Facilities and (2) Detect and Respond to Emerging AMR in Healthcare Facilities.
Job Description:
Project HOPE is seeking expressions of interest from highly qualified candidates for the several Project Directors on an anticipated five-year CDC-funded Global Healthcare Detection and Response program in Multiple Countries (Colombia, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Nigeria, Zambia). The positions are subject to change based on procurement requirements and is contingent upon Project HOPE being awarded to implement the project.

Job Summary:
The Project Director overall responsibility is to build and sustain relationships with CDC, the MOH, strategic partnerships that have a role in supporting the implementation of the work plan activities to achieve the long-term outcomes.
- HAIs are reduced and safe healthcare is delivered
- Facilities and countries are better prepared to respond to emerging AMR threats in healthcare
The PD’s primary responsibility primary responsibility will manage the planning and execution of activities within the proposed work plan. S/he will also be responsible for high level representation and communication with the CDC, the Ministry of Health (MOH), and other stakeholders to effectively implement the project to achieve the short-term outcomes of the project.
Specific responsibilities may include:
- Manage relationships with hospitals, reference laboratories, and IPC network coordinators or partners.
- Hire other key staff and provide mentorship to achieve short-term and long-term outcomes
- Liaise with CDC and other partners on development of work plans, performance, and financial reporting.
- Ensure work plans are feasible based on the budget and consistent with the intent of the award.
- Ensure that the program is performing at a sufficient level to achieve outcomes within stated timeframes.
- Adjust the work plan based on achievement of outcomes, evaluation results and changing budgets.
- Organize regular calls with CDC and MOH to monitor project implementation progress
- Organize regular calls and meetings with CDC to assess expenditure in relations to approved work plans and modify as necessary
Required Qualifications:
- Master’s degree or equivalent in infectious disease epidemiology, HAI prevention and/or AMR detection or PhD, MD or DrPH in infectious disease epidemiology, clinical diagnostics or related field

Direct experience working with the Global Health Security Agenda, AMR and IPC interventions

8+ years of experience in infectious disease detection or surveillance in healthcare facilities

Ability to engage MOH stakeholders and other CDC funded programs on collaborative projects

Ability to create and maintain effective working relations with host country governments, international organizations, and US Government Agencies

Five years’ of on the ground experience in developing similar programs

Ability to work in a complex project environment, set realistic priorities, and plan project implementation activities based on agreed upon priorities

Strong English and writing and oral presentation skills

Fluency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint

Native speaker or fluent in local language for each identified country
