Main purpose of job:
Intern will provide commercial and administrative support to the Healthcare and Life Sciences team within the Commercial Section (DIT) at the British Consulate-General Sao Paulo.
Roles and responsibilities / what will the jobholder be expected to achieve?:
- Assist with OMIS (Overseas Market Introduction Services) for UK companies in the Healthcare/Life Sciences sector
- Provide support to the organisation of events such as trade missions, seminars and other special events
- Keep DataHub (Customer Relationship Management) databases updated
- Conduct market researches and identify business opportunities
- Give support to possible demands from UK partners about Brazil
- Attend trade fairs and official events when necessary
- Monitor the internet, newspapers and specialised magazines gathering information for the team and producing newsletters
This position is based at British Consulate General São Paulo.
- Undergraduate Student (2nd or 3rd year), preferably in International Relations, Business, International Commerce, Marketing, a healthcare related area or related disciplines (graduating in 2022 or later)
- This person should also be flexible, organised, dynamic and pro-active
- Excellent command of written and spoken English and Portuguese; excellent communication and presentation skills with both languages
- Knowledge in Microsoft Office package
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Internship is a fixed-term role for 6 months, with the possibility of renewal.
Working pattern is 30 hours a week. It is desirable the successful candidate studies during the evening.
Currently, work is remote. Once normal operations resume, intern will be expected to go into the Consulate in Sao Paulo.
Employees who are not liable to pay local income tax on their Mission salary, eg some non-local national staff and some spouses or partners of UK diplomatic staff, will have their salaries abated by an equivalent amount.
Eligibility to work and live in Brazil is required.
Level of language required: advanced English with excellent writing and speaking capabilities; fluent Portuguese, with excellent writing and speaking capabilities. Spanish is a plus.
Essential HMG training will be given at the beginning of the term, with on-the-job training available throughout. The intern will develop the skills required for the promotion of trade between Brazilian and British companies and gain experience of events logistics, administrative tasks and sector knowledge (Healthcare and Life Sciences).
