The Role

We are looking for Country  Safety Coordinator is to ensure that the Country Safety Strategy is developed, implemented, monitored, and reviewed in line with Oxfam policies, standards, and requirements.

• To support Oxfam Ethiopia programmes’ capacity to manage safety risks effectively providing for effective implementation of programme objectives.

• To secure specialist advice and support on safety management to the Country Director, other programme/project managers, and staff.

What we are looking for

The  Country Safety  Coordinator position will require to be an exceptional, dedicated, and highly motivated professional, with a strong commitment to Oxfam’s values and beliefs with the following qualification and competencies:

• Bachelor’s Degree in political science or relevant field from recognized college/University
• At least six (6) years of practical experience in safety and related risk management, out of which two (2) years in a supervisory role
• At least two years of practical experience in safety risk management in the context of UN or NGO humanitarian operations is a must
• Expertise in the Ethiopia safety context and trends as well as a good understanding of the most challenging locations.
• Proven influencing, communication, interpersonal, and negotiating skills with internal and external audiences including in complex and stressful environments.
• Established experience in providing training, including field-based training.
• Ability to work under pressure and not lose sight of strategic priorities.
• Capacity to be on standby 24/7 and ready to travel at a short notice.
• Excellent knowledge of English.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software to prepare reports, permits, and training records.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving and reporting skill
• Strong supervisory and leadership skills.

Desirable:

• Working knowledge of the Amharic language and/or other spoken dialects in Ethiopia.
• Advanced training or certification in safety and security preferred
