Role

This is a five-month temporary appointment to deal with planned surge activities for Geneva Call programs in Africa (Mali, Burkina Faso, DRC, South Sudan, Sudan) with frequent travels to the field.

Under the direct supervision of the Heads of Regions Africa, the Logistics Officer will support the setup of the Geneva Call’s operations in Africa. He/she will be responsible for all logistics and administration tasks, such as conducting local market surveys, and supporting the procurement of office space, office supplies, staff accommodation, and program materials. He/she will also support any required follow-up on registration, visas, and other official issues in the different Countries.

The Logistics Officer will report to the heads of Regions for Africa.

Main Responsibilities

Logistics

  • Conduct the local market research, do the analysis of GC current situation against data and advise steps forward.
  • Support new missions as well as existing ones to do the needs assessment and guide procurement process, ensuring donor compliance and Geneva Call internal policies are met.
  • In close cooperation with the local admins’, ensure adherence to the Geneva Call policies.
  • ensure all procurement documentation for GC is recorded and communicated.
  • Check of all Geneva call’s equipment is to ensure its good condition and usability.
  • Ensure check and follow up of facilities and report of any anomalies or problems, evaluate the General situation. Checking the premises observe security norms and monitor the consumption and use of Geneva call’s equipment.
  • Update Geneva Call’s assets inventory and provide analysis of the condition, advise on assets and property that are due for replacement, return or disposal.

Administration

  • Identify rental properties, including staff accommodation and office space ensuring adherence to Geneva Call Security standards.
  • Oversee the furnishing and maintenance of the Geneva Call’s properties.
  • Advise on assets and property that are due for replacement, return, or disposal.

Other

  • Follow new or existing Geneva Call’s procedures and guidelines.
  • Report any violations of Geneva Call’s of core values as per Geneva Call reporting mechanism.
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned by the direct manager.

Professional Competencies

  • At least five years of work experience in logistics and administration; NGO experience.
  • Experience working in multicultural environment.
  • Organized, detail oriented, proactive and team player.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Understanding of and commitment to humanitarian principles.
  • Strong computer competency with word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and other IT skills.
  • Fluency in English and French required, both written and verbal
  • Willing to take frequent visits to the fields.
