Summary of key responsibilities:
Within delegated authority, the Logistics Expert will be responsible for the following duties:
Logistics

Lead and advise on the preparation and implementation of the necessary logistics and operational plans in support of the electoral watch process.

Provide advice and plan the deployment and retrieval of international watchers during the process.

Manage the development of specific provisions for tracking and securing the deployment, operation and retrieval of project personnel.

Provide advice on transport requirements and in identifying suitable facilities, infrastructure and materials required.

Develop and implement a comprehensive and streamlined logistics system for the project

Oversee the fleet management to ensure punctual transportation services in coordination with UNDSS.

Advice and assist with the updating and monitoring of the project budget.

Advise, monitor and report to the Team Leader on relevant policies and procedures required for the project and their implementation at the field level.
Stakeholder Management
-
Strengthen communication-sharing mechanisms within project stakeholders.

Coordinate with the relevant national and international parties on electoral security issues.

Coordinate with relevant authorities, suppliers and freight-forwarders on customs clearance and other logistical issues.
Personnel Management
-
Lead and motivate the national support staff.

Supervise and manage the performance of the UN national staff;

Ensure that behavioural expectations of team members are established.

Ensure that performance reviews are conducted fairly, accurately and timely

Create, foster and role model a culture of respect and zero tolerance for discrimination, abuse of authority, harassment, sexual harassment and sexual exploitation and abuse.

Requirements
Education:
- Advanced university degree (master’s degree or equivalent) preferably in Procurement, Business or Public Administration or any other related field. A first level university degree in combination with qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced university degree.
- Specialized training in operations management or logistics would be desirable.
- A Technical Diploma/Professional License or Certification with additional years of experience may be accepted in lieu of a Bachelors or Masters Degree.
Experience:
- Minimum 5 years relevant experience at the national or international level in logistics management;
- Previous UN experience would be desirable;
- Experience in handling of web-based management systems is desired;
- Experience in logistics management with elections projects would be an advantage.
Language:
- Fluency in English language is required; knowledge of Arabic language will be an added advantage.
