Project Manager
· Damascus, Syria with frequent travel to Homs and Aleppo, Syria
· Travel to Beirut, Lebanon, and other project sites as needed
· Reporting to HQ Project Manager based in Brussels, the post-holder will be seconded to Dorcas Relief and Development for the duration of the contract period.

Mission East is currently implementing emergency response, protection and recovery projects in both Syria and Lebanon. This project will be implemented by partner organization Dorcas Relief and Development. As such, the post-holder will be seconded to Dorcas Relief and Development for the duration of the contract period.
The Mission East Project Manager will be seconded to the implementing partner, Dorcas International and Tabitha. He/she will be responsible for providing close oversight, support and quality assurance for the remainder of the project lifecycle and ensuring with the implementing partner, Dorcas International, the successful closure of the project and the achievement of all project targets. He/she will be responsible for liaising with Dorcas staff members to ensure that day-to-day activities are on track and meeting donor and Mission East requirements. This includes an overview of the budget and monthly spending, basic reporting/monitoring and evaluation requirements, helping partners to ensure that the project is meeting targets within the time period designated, and managing parallel reporting lines to Mission East and Dorcas as well as providing coaching and capacity building support to Dorcas and local partner staff in Syria, as required.
The successful candidate will bring a strong track record in project management, including experience of writing proposals, implementing activities, and monitoring and evaluation of projects. With a university degree in international relations, disaster management, international development or similar they will have substantial recent and relevant experience working for an (I)NGO, international organization, or similar on matters related to emergency response and recovery activities. They will bring relevant knowledge and understanding of the specific Syrian context and experience living and working in a developing country, preferably a country with a volatile, fragile context and a high-risk security environment.
With awareness of humanitarian quality standards (Core Humanitarian Standard, SPHERE, Red Cross Code of Conduct, and others), an ability to work in volatile, high-risk contexts and cross-cultural sensitivity, the candidate will also bring flexibility, a constructive attitude and a sympathy to Mission East’s organisational values.
