Position description

The Senior Director, Global Partnerships, reports to the Vice President, Global Partnerships and Philanthropy and is responsible for providing internal strategic guidance and managing relationships with global institutions (e.g. MLOs, international think tanks) , private foundations and large policy focused international non-governmental organizations to advance and protect Pfizer’s business and policy priorities. The Senior Director will:

  • Work closely with leadership and key colleagues to identify, monitor and effectively engage with global institutions to drive Pfizer priorities.
  • Work across the enterprise to develop and lead an integrated approach to engagement with above market global health stakeholders.
  • Provide strategic support to the Business Units, corporate leaders, and geographic regions on business-relevant issues and to enhance Pfizer’s reputation and credibility .
  • Establish Pfizer as a valuable partner and corporate leader dedicated to understanding and meeting the needs of patients and the international public health community.
  • Act as a thought leader who represents Pfizer externally with key partners and the global development community

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create and implement ongoing strategy to identify, monitor and engage with global institutions, private foundations and large international non-governmental organizations.
  • Develop strategies to align global priorities and activities relating to global institutions.
  • Work with IDM and EM regional leads to leverage global institution engagement at the regional/country level, and pull-through strategic HQ-led initiatives.
  • Proactively connect relevant divisions, teams and colleagues to opportunities, partners and events relevant for advancing Pfizer’s corporate and commercial goals.
  • Manage high-quality programs and activities that mobilize all relevant Pfizer resources to develop and enhance Pfizer’s business performance and reputation among these stakeholders.
  • Advance Pfizer interests on key health care issues and in policy dialogues taking place among above market global health stakeholders.
  • Identify appropriate opportunities to engage senior leaders on international platforms to address topics of business, policy, and reputation relevance Pfizer’s business.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • BA/BS required; masters in International Affairs or Public Health preferred.
  • 10-15 + years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry or in multi-lateral organizations.
  • Strong network of external relationships.
  • Outstanding strategy and execution skills.
  • Outstanding oral and written communications skills.
  • Established track record of leadership, innovation, and coalition building in complex, matrix environments.
  • Strong executive presence and professional approach to instill confidence with senior leaders and partners.
  • Track record in proactively partnering across a complicated matrixed organization and driving metrics to demonstrate success.
  • Track record in motivating colleagues and peers and building strong internal relationships.
  • Proficiency in French or Spanish preferred.
  • Candidate demonstrates a breadth of diverse leadership experiences and capabilities including: the ability to influence and collaborate with peers, develop and coach others, oversee and guide the work of other colleagues to achieve meaningful outcomes and create business impact.

NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS

  • 30% travel.
  • While this role allows flexibility to be based remotely, the expectation is to be available during NY time zone hours. There is also an expectation to be based onsite in NYC for several weeks for orientation and up to once a month for at least the first year in the role.
