About One Acre Fund

Founded in 2006, One Acre Fund supplies 1 million smallholder farmers with the agricultural services they need to make their farms vastly more productive. Our 8,000+ team is drawn from diverse backgrounds and professions. With operations across six core countries in Africa, we make farmers more prosperous by providing quality farm supplies on credit, delivered within walking distance of farmers’ homes, and agricultural training to improve harvests. On average, the farmers we serve harvest 50 percent more food after working with One Acre Fund.

About the Role

You will work with a variety of government and private partners to develop programs that transform the Amhara Region’s approach to trees from supply, demand and gender perspective. You will report directly to the Senior Partnerships Manager, and build teams and hire staff. Here are some examples of what we are trying to accomplish:

Responsibilities

  • Improve the market environment for tree seedlings. Work with our core tree program and evaluation teams to ensure that traders have access to tree seedlings and that related economic impact is evaluated.
  • Develop an extension support program. Work with stakeholders to develop a strategy to incorporate tree planting benefits and best practices into the agricultural extension system in a more meaningful way in every kebele of Amhara region.
  • Pilot an agro-dealer partnership program for tree nursery inputs. Work with stakeholders to make high-quality tree nursery inputs available at cooperatives and farmer service centers on a credit basis. You would run foundational research, get support from partners, design the trial, hire and train staff and implement the pilot.
