The Department of Social Sciences at The University of Texas at Tyler invites applications for a position of Assistant Professor of Sociology on a tenure track contract starting in Fall 2020. Required credentials include Ph.D. (by the date of employment) in Sociology or Cultural Studies. Desirable credentials include experience teaching at the college level and ability to teach a wide range of Sociology classes. We are particularly interested in candidates who can contribute to our Criminal Justice major and/or our Forensic Sciences minor or our research-oriented call center. Responsibilities include teaching all levels as well as curriculum development and service. Teaching load is 3/3.

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement Program (ORP) instead of TRS, subject to the position being 40 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
