Associate or Full Professor/Chairperson, Criminal Justice


The College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences at North Carolina A&T State University seeks an energetic and innovative chairperson for the Department of Criminal Justice, who possesses a distinguished record of scholarly and professional accomplishments, appreciates the integration of learning, discovery and engagement, and has significant administrative experience. This is a 12-month position. Candidates are expected to exhibit a strong commitment to scholarship and excellence in the arena of criminal justice and to exhibit an open and collegial style of communication. Among the responsibilities of the chair are the administration of instructional programs, budgetary management, faculty development, instruction, academic advising, and departmental assessment. The normal teaching load for departmental chairpersons is six credit hours per semester. Service to the College, University and community are expected. As the academic leader and chief administrative officer of the Department of Criminal Justice, the chair reports directly to the Dean of the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences.

Minimum Qualifications:
Candidates must have a Ph.D. in political science, criminal justice or related field. Candidates must also have a distinguished record of scholarly and professional accomplishments, integration of learning, discovery and engagement, and have significant administrative experience suitable for appointment at the rank of associate professor or full professor.
