Position Description
The Department of Sociology and Anthropology (http://socanth.olemiss.edu) at the University of Mississippi invites applications for the position of a Visiting Assistant Professor of Sociology. This is a one-year, temporary position beginning August 2021. We are seeking a sociologist with a focus on quantitative methods and demography, or related fields. The successful candidate should be able to teach thematic courses in rural population health, the family, introductory demography, and graduate level statistics. Candidates should have an active program of scholarly research, a strong commitment to teaching. Ph.D. (or advanced ABD) in Sociology or related field is required at the time of application. While service, research and teaching will be within the Department of Sociology & Anthropology, a portion of teaching responsibilities will be for the Center for Population Studies. The Department of Sociology and Anthropology offers the BA and MA degrees in Sociology and the Center for Population Studies offers an undergraduate minor in Society and Health. The Center for Population Studies all houses the State Data Center of Mississippi.
