Classes begin August 23, 2021. Applicants should hold a PhD or DFA in theater or a closely related field. The successful candidate(s) will teach an undergraduate lecture in theater and performance history across two semesters (offered as general education and as required courses for theater BFA and BA majors and minors); two upper-level undergraduate seminars each semester in areas of the candidate’s specialty (offered for theater BFA and BA majors and minors); and one graduate seminar each semester in areas of the candidate’s specialty (offered for theater MFAs and Interdisciplinary Arts PhDs). In addition, the candidate will supervise two teaching associates each semester for THAR 2700/2711 class, who are responsible for leading discussion section and grading.
Candidates must have a commitment to excellence in teaching and a strong research profile.
They should:
- Demonstrate experience creating, implementing, cultivating, and maintaining a diversity of perspectives in theater training
- Demonstrate an ability to reimagine and decolonize typical “canonical” curriculum by engaging with new works that investigate perspectives beyond those of our predominately Western culture
- Demonstrate an awareness of the intersections and inequalities of the student body and is specific about how they care for students through resources and opportunities

Minimum Qualifications
PhD or DFA in Theater or closely related field.
Experience teaching theater history, dramatic literature, and dramatic theory at a college level.
