The Role
We are looking for a passionate and self starter Humanitarian Program Manager to be based in Maputo, Mozambique.
This is a two year fixed term contract, renewal of contract is subject to availability of funding.
The person should have the right to work in Mozambique and be fluent in spoken and written Portuguese.
The person will provide humanitarian response capacity, humanitarian partnership capacity building and provide technical support on humanitarian protection, DRR/Resilience building programmes, and campaigns, advocacy and media work regionally

- Good understanding of key humanitarian issues, institutions and policy debates linked to different types of emergencies in the Region.
- Experience of field-level management of complex humanitarian response programmes; and all phases of the project/program cycle, with a good understanding of context, dilemmas, challenges and ways of working.
- Demonstrable skills in gender analysis in humanitarian response or preparedness programming, and a clear understanding of the practical significance of gender issues in humanitarian environments;
- Demonstrable experience of policy development in relation to humanitarian response work.
- Experience of identifying training needs and developing and delivering training implementation
- Proven track record of policy/advocacy, influencing government, donors or other organisations through advocacy at regional and international levels.
- Strong experience working in partnership with national and international NGOs and civil society organisations and networks.
- Fluency in written and spoken Portuguese
In addition, an ideal candidate will also have:
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build and manage good relationships both internally and externally.
- Ability to work independently and think innovatively and strategically, as well as collaborate within a team, including with colleagues based remotely.
- Ability to work on own initiative, manage complex workloads and deliver outputs to agreed deadlines.
