Major functions:

The Market Transformation team strives to set impactful industry aspirations on sustainability in Singapore and Southeast Asia in the areas of palm oil, plastics, sustainable seafood, climate and illegal wildlife trade.

Through consultation and close collaboration with businesses, we build platforms, tools and practical solutions closely guided by data and science that help entire sectors to become more sustainable. The goal is to lower the threats to biodiversity and natural resources, as well as the impacts of climate change.

The Assistant Manager, Market Transformation manages the dynamic and on-going development and implementation of market strategies in Singapore in accordance with the WWF Global Practices and currently in-place initiatives. He / she acquires and maintains meaningful transformational partnerships with the private sector in regards to palm oil, seafood, and other sustainability initiatives.

  1. Co-create and lead the execution of strategies for market transformation with corporate partners and WWF-led alliances with main focus on our responsible seafood and sustainable palm oil work.
  2. Lead and project-manage related initiatives such as business platforms, development of tools and resources, and organising business events and working groups.
  3. Proactively develop new partnerships with corporate partners, and oversee and take ownership of existing corporate collaboration relationships by providing guidance and delivering towards goals in corporate sustainability for partners from various sectors; lead individual partner projects.
  4. Coordinate partnerships within the WWF network, as well as joint initiatives with other NGOs, trade associations, government agencies and other organisations.
  5. Represent WWF-Singapore internally in the WWF network and externally in private sector events/processes and key WWF network bodies.

Required qualifications

  • 3-5 years’ professional experience in ideally environmental/sustainability corporate or consultant roles, or marketing, sales, business development, partnerships roles.
  • A degree in management, business administration, marketing, sustainable development, sustainable management or environmental sciences.
  • Experience working on food-related sustainability issues, especially palm oil, seafood and / or sustainable demand and consumption

Required skills and competencies

  • Negotiation and influencing skills with a track record of developing influential networks with a range of stakeholders
  • Excellent written verbal, presentation and public speaking communication skills with an ability to communicate complicated concepts in plain English to diverse audiences
  • Self-driven ownership of projects and strong project and relationship management skills
  • Strategic thinking and creativity in environmental sustainability problem solving
  • Deep understanding of corporate sustainability and SDG 12 (Responsible Production and Consumption) is a prerequisite.
  • Ability to work constructively with and contribute to a high-performance team.
  • Be able to handle coordination of various stakeholders on complex projects
  • Passionate about conservation and sustainability
  • Adhere to WWF’s values, which are: Collaboration, Integrity, Respect and Courage
  • A proven track record in sales, key account management or project management is a significant advantage.

  • Internal – Conservation, Policy & Advocacy, Communications, Sustainable Finance, Corporate Engagement, WWF country offices, WWF International and others
  • External – Companies that are interested in or part of Market Transformation initiatives; external agencies, consultants and freelancers; other NGOs, government agencies, trade associations etc.
