How can you make a difference?
The Regional Programme and Planning Section, UNICEF East Asia and Pacific Regional Office (EAPRO) is seeking an individual consultant to map and analyze the uptake and data sources of child-focus SDG targets/indicators (44 Indicators) and other impact/outcome level child-rights indicators in the Voluntary National Reviews (VNRS) prepared and presented by Governments and in the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Frameworks (UNSDCF or UNDAF) in East Asia and the Pacific.
Work Assignment:
The assignment is to scan/review all Voluntary National Reviews (VNRs) presented so far, and the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Frameworks (UNSDCF) prepared by countries in East Asia and the Pacific and analyze the data gaps and data sources. For countries with no UNSDCF, the predecessor UNDAF will be utilized. Along with overall analysis, separate analysis for sub-regions or country groupings such as ASEAN and Pacific countries is also required.
The consultant will complete the following tasks/deliverables
- Mapping of child-focus SDG targets/indicators and other impact/outcome level child-rights indicators in latest VNRs in EAP region
- Mapping of child-focus SDG targets/indicators and other impact/outcome level child-rights indicators in UNSDCF in EAP region
- Data gap analysis of child-focus SDG targets/indicators and other impact/outcome level child-rights indicators
- Data source analysis of child-focus SDG targets/indicators and other impact/outcome level child-rights indicators
- Drafting a 20-25 pages report highlighting key finding and recommendations
- Prepare and share a presentation highlighting key findings and recommendations
- Based on comments/feedback finalize the report and finalize the presentation.
Share all data collected and analysis carried out as part of this assignment with UNICEF along with final report and presentation.
Work Schedule & End Product(s):
- Draft Report: 25 September 2021
- Final Report: By 15 October 2021
Duration of Contract: 25 working days during the period of 15 August 2021 – 31 October 2021.
Working Location: The individual contractor will work remotely in his/her own premises but will regularly report to the supervisor.
To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…
- Advanced degree in the social sciences (sociology, anthropology, development studies), Economics/Statistics/Demography or related fields relevant for the assignment.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver quality reports/analysis and results in line with established deadlines
- Knowledge of UN SDG targets and indicators
- Institutional knowledge of the UN and UNICEF
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency in writing in English
- A high level of organizational and coordination skills
- An excellent command of the English language – both written and oral
- Ability to produce quality work within stipulated deadlines
- Highly developed communication skills
- Motivated and has the ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
- Minimum of 8 years of professional experience in data analysis, developing monitoring frameworks or related.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a multicultural environment and establish harmonious and effective relationships with national partners;
- Demonstrated leadership, managerial and supervisory ability.
