Background

iMMAP is currently seeking a dynamic and innovative Knowledge Management consultant to support the global tech and comms team in the establishment of a solid knowledge management strategy. This is a short-term assignment to support in gathering hidden insight within the multitude of platforms used across the organization and recommending a way forward to promote a KM culture and streamline knowledge sharing across all projects.

Description of Duties

You will be responsible for assessing KM needs, identifying and implementing appropriate KM activities, programs and tools, and creating a global KM strategy;

• Work with the Senior Technical Advisor and the Communications team to engage in an in-depth assessment of KM needs, audiences and existing platforms

• Evaluate existing KM solutions and practices within the organization and explore ways for scaling them up

• Run online workshops to engage the different stakeholders and scout for ideas within the organization

• Locate data “graveyards” and recommend ways to minimize their expansion

• Design workflows for knowledge storage, sharing and consolidation

• Draft guidelines and best practices for KM, including MEAL guidelines and key performance indicators (KPI’s), that are adapted to iMMAP’s organizational structure and activities

• In collaboration with Capacity Building experts in the organization, develop and support web- based learning and experience exchanges

• Support the IT team in assessing the results and cost-effectiveness of KM solutions

• Develop document containing all deliverables requested, including end of assignment report

Position Requirements

Education and Experience

• Advanced degree in communications, information management, KM, or other relevant field

• 5 years professional experience in KM, including researching, creating and implementing KM products and tools

• Proven experience creating and implementing KM strategy plans

• Experience working with databases, information libraries, communities of practice, etc.

• Experience in evaluating KM tools and processes

• Familiarity with basic usability interface concepts and practices (especially for database design) and familiarity with cloud file storage services (SharePoint, GoogleDrive, etc)

General Qualifications

• Strong technical and general writing skills

• Proven track record of successful teamwork, good presentation/facilitation skills and excellent verbal and written communication skills required

• Innovate mindset and ability to leverage new technologies for organizational benefit

• Ability to deal sensitively in multicultural environments and build effective working relations with clients and colleagues

• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact with individuals at all levels

• Knowledge of French, Spanish or Arabic, an asset.
