What Young Peacebuilders Does
Young Peacebuilders (YP) develops partnerships, research, projects and tools that nurture peacebuilding passion and skill in children and youth in conflict-affected contexts. In this way YP helps prevent and end cycles of violence. We also help design effective child and youth peacebuilding projects and research for others. We want to see a major shift in the dominant method of addressing contemporary conflicts toward investing in young people as peacebuilders.
Role Summary
YP is known as an expert in the field of child and youth peacebuilding. We’ve received contracts from various UN agencies and international non-profits. As part of our strategy to build the capacity of other organizations around the world to better support children and youth as effective peacebuilders, we aim to increase the consulting services we offer to others. The successful candidate will oversee the pursuit of child and youth peacebuilding related consulting contracts and manage delivery of awarded contracts among a roster of consultants. The successful candidate may help deliver on contracts where s/he is qualified to do so.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities vary depending upon the duration of one’s commitment, number of hours committed, interests, skills, and experience. We ensure responsibilities increase along with one’s skill level.

Help build and manage a team of consultants who satisfy consulting contracts for YP

Help build and manage a team of volunteers who research and identify YP relevant contracts, submit proposals, budgets, and work plans, and then clarify and build the team to deliver on each awarded contract

Oversee delivery of awarded contracts to ensure YP exceeds expectations. This may include among other things:

Ensuring flights are booked for o consultants at cost-effective rates

periodic analysis of demand and service provided

Recruitment and selection of staff in consultation with Director / YP’s Human Resources Team
Skills and Qualifications
-
Experience working as a paid contracted consultant
-
Extremely organized and faithful with great team and project management skills
-
Bachelor’s degree, or similar experience, in business, non-profit management, political science, peace and conflict studies

4+ years of experience in project management roles that include managing other people

Experience working with small and large NGOs, community-based organizations, foundations, and/or governments

Experience travel management and human resources management

Experience working remotely with teams across the world

Fluency in English, both written and oral

Strong interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills to meet the diverse technical and managerial requirements of the program and to effectively coordinate with a wide range of stakeholders.
