How can you make a difference?
The Regional Support Center, PFP Section, UNICEF East Asia and Pacific Regional Office (EAPRO) is seeking to hire a consultant that will fill in the gaps to execute the business audience communications regional strategy developed by our partnered media agency. The approach will cover partnerships, Child Rights and Business, and other communication streams for more unified and effective business-facing messages and calls to action that help achieve results for children.
Work Assignment:
- Regional Business to Business Marketing Strategy execution
- Execution of the media strategy (overarching strategy + pitch angles and guidance on key journalists, publications, etc.) developed by a partnered media agency in collaboration with the Regional Communications team
- Execution and monitoring of the thought leadership strategy (conferences, speaking opportunities, etc.)
- Execution and monitoring of the B2B Social media strategy aligned to existing digital strategies
- Content creation for social media
- Support on developing public relations and brand strategies with other UNICEF key audiences
- Support on development of ways to reach and generate new leads from key target audiences through digital
- Support New Business and Partnership Development
- Participate in partnerships discussions and make recommendations on opportunities and priorities, support on identifying ways of adding value within UNICEF partnerships
- Support new business teams to develop media and communications guidance (communications strategy and plans, visibility opportunities, tailored events, etc.) for regional partnership proposals in alignment with UNICEF’s regional and global recognition guideline for partners based on the channels identified and prioritized in the Regional Business to Business Marketing Strategy developed by a partnered media agency.
- Support Partnership Development and Account Management of regional and global partnerships led by NatComs or other COs with strong investment and geographic focus in the region to develop annual communications plan, report on achievements and partnership’s KPIs in the communications and recognition space.
- Develop and implement communication (and marketing) activities in close coordination with external partners and UNICEF’s partnership focal points to include: draft communication parameters for new partners; facilitate joint communication planning with partners; draft communication materials such as news notes, social media posts and photo briefs for partners; source engaging content for external communication channels, review and edit partner communication materials referencing UNICEF; coordinate with media/PR specialist (country support and development team) PFP Comms regarding global media outreach; and assist the UNICEF Spokesperson (regional) as needed for press briefings.
- In close consultation with the Regional Comms Chief manage communication around risk issues linked to partner engagement, contributes to the prevention of media/PR crises and, works with internal stakeholders, corporate partners and PR agencies to successfully manage crisis response when required (for multi-country/regional partners)
- Support COs efforts on their own Business to Business Marketing strategies (India, China, The Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand)
- Support country offices, communications and partnerships teams, in their efforts to localize global and regional B2B Marketing strategies in their markets.
- Support COs teams to develop local recognition plans for strategic national partnerships as well as risk management framework including crisis preparation and management protocols.
End Product(s):
- Media and thought leadership outreach plan, measurable impacts of UNICEF’s presence in media and events
- Social media strategy execution, content plan and development
- Media and Communications plans developed for regional prospects, participation in pitch meetings with prospects
- Communications plans and implementation of activities with relevant strategic partnerships
Duration of Contract: 15 September 2021 – 15 March 2022 (Up to 120 days for a max period of 6 months)
Working Location: Home based with calls/ virtual meetings with relevant offices; no travel is foreseen.
Qualifications or Specialized Knowledge/Experience Required:
Education: Advanced university degree in Communication, Journalism, Business Administration, Public Relations, Social Sciences, or equivalent professional work experience in the communication area. A first level university degree in combination with qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
Experience: Minimum five years of progressively responsible and relevant professional international work experience in communication, ideally corporate communications.
Language Requirements: Fluency in English is required for this position.

- Advanced ability to express clearly and concisely ideas and concepts in written and oral form; specific skills in press release writing and social media content.
- Ability to work in an international and multicultural environment.
- Ability to multi-task, to handle stressful situations effectively; and to work well under pressure and in response to changing needs
- Good interpersonal skills, and ability to establish and maintain effective working relations within a team.
- Proven ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
