Postdoctoral Associate

Summary

Applicants are invited to apply to the Postdoctoral Associate position in Dr. Feng Yang’s lab in the Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology at Baylor College of Medicine. Dr. Yang’s lab pioneered and continues leading the field on investigating MAPK4 biology and targeting MAPK4 in human cancers (JCI, 2019, PMID: 30688659, and JCI, 2021 PMID: 33586682). The research project will focus on understanding the molecular mechanisms regulating MAPK4 driving breast cancer progression and therapy resistance using multi-disciplinary approaches, including using human cancer cell lines, xenograft models, and transgenic/knockout mouse models. The successful candidate will be expected to work independently and be highly self-motivated. Link to Dr. Yang’s

Job Purpose

Postdoctoral Associates are trainees working in an apprenticeship mode in preparation for a career as a scientific professional.

Job Duties

  • Plans, directs and conducts specialized and advanced research experiments.
  • Evaluates and analyzes data.
  • May establish new research protocols and procedures.
  • Summarizes research findings and publish results in research journals. 
  • May be responsible for laboratory operations.
  • May supervise research staff.

Minimum Qualifications

  • MD or Ph.D. in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.
  • No experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ph.D. or MD/Ph.D. in molecular biology, cancer biology, or a related field.
  • Research experience in molecular biology and cancer biology.   
  • Previous first author publications in the related field.
