The British Embassy in Amman is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual for the Part-Time, Maternity Cover position of Finance Support Officer, Grade – A1 (L).
Main Purpose of the job:
Supporting the Finance Manager as directed to manage the Embassy’s annual budget in compliance with HMG rules. Liaising with the Finance hub and the local bank; supporting staff with finance queries and ensuring that deadlines are met to deliver the KPIs.
Main Responsibilities:
- Point of contact with Manila Finance Hub in support of processing invoices.
- Keep the accounts filing system up to date at all times and ensure good record keeping.
- Scan of invoices whenever needed.
- Liaising with the bank on Embassy bank account matters.
- Process requisitions and ensure receipting is carried out for Corporate Services purchase transactions.
- Assist Finance office on daily tasks.
- Provide cover for finance officer absence.

Essential:
- Fluent communication skills in both Arabic and English (speaking, reading and writing).
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a finance role.
- Bachelors or other professional qualification in a related field.
- Exceptional writing and presentation skills.
- Strong organisation skills and experience finance management systems.
- Self-starter, comfortable with strategy and delivery with minimal support.
- Fully conversant with Microsoft Office (word, excel, outlook and the internet).

Working Hours and Remuneration:
The position is part-time, at 18.5 hours a week with considerations of flexibility depending on circumstances.
Pay is on the Embassy A1 (L) scale, with a salary of JOD 401.50 per month. Please note that your salary will be paid gross and you are expected to comply with your tax obligations through completion of a tax return to the local authorities. If exceptionally you are not liable to pay Jordanian tax, you will receive a net salary which is minus the deduction of an equivalent level of local tax. Further information on this will be given to candidates at interview if necessary.
This is a Part Time, Maternity Cover position for 3 months with a possibility of short extension. The assumed/desired start date for the successful candidate is early/mid-September 2021 and ending on 15th December 2021.
The package includes a good level of health insurance and a friendly, English-speaking work environment. We offer opportunities to develop professional skills through our Learning & Development offer. Leave entitlement is 25 days (on pro rata basis) plus 14 public holidays.
The successful candidate will be subject to a 90-days probationary period.
