We are inspired by and associated with World Resources Institute (WRI), a global research organization. Currently over 150 researchers are working with WRI India in our offices at Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru. 

Program Overview for Energy

The objective of the WRI India energy program is to inform and guide India’s transition to cleaner energy. The program focuses on three inter-related aspects of this energy transition: enhancing energy access, scaling renewables among specific consumer categories, and achieving higher levels of energy and buildings efficiency. Our energy access work is specifically aimed at ensuring access to affordable and clean energy so as to improve socio-economic development in rural and remote regions of India. Through strong research, ground-level implementation experience, partnerships with key stakeholders and communicating our work, we seek to achieve impact at scale.

Position overview

WRI India is looking for a young development professional with a preliminary experience in Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL). The role demands individuals who can lead and manage the MEL function for a energy access projects focused on empowering rural livelihoods and improving quality of life. In this role you will be responsible for designing, implementing and supporting the social, environmental, and economic impact of the projects in over North East region of India.

One specific project spanning three years is starting from October 2021 in Mon District, Nagaland. The project is being implemented by a consortium of entities led by Hamara Grid Private Limited and will cover 60% of this position. The remaining 40% will be towards other projects in the region.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support in designing the Impact Framework in consultation with project stakeholders
  • Lead and carry out surveys, evaluations and other MEL processes of baseline study benchmarking, assessments, community mapping, etc.
  • Monitor and report on the progress of the project
  • Support project implementing agencies towards learnings for achieving targeted impact
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the Energy Program Director in India.

Required Attributes and Credentials

  • Master’s degree (MA, MSc or equivalent) in development studies, economics, agriculture, rural development, environmental and sustainability studies
  • 4+ years of relevant experience with prior research experience in development sector with knowledge of the clean energy sector
  • General experience of working in and around North-East India
  • Amenable to travel extensively around the region
  • 2+ years of experience of community based research and evaluation studies
  • An interest in problem-focused research with skills in qualitative and/or quantitative research methods
  • An ability to work independently and effectively with minimum supervision and with attention to detail
  • Good communications skills, willingness to engage with the team members in project discussions and a strong sense of respect for the team members
  • Strong listening, verbal and written communication skills in Konyak and English.

Location: Mon, Nagaland, India 

Potential Salary: 6,50,000 to 8,00,000 INR CTC Per annum 

Duration: Term hire as 1 year (Extendable based on performance and project requirements)
