The Director will work globally across country and regional offices to evoke bold, meaningful and systemic change, and ensure DEI strategies are responsive to, and reflective of, CARE USA’s global context. The ideal candidate will lead us in creating a more honest/transparent narrative of who we are, influencing how we work with each other within our internal culture, and informing how we partner with program participants, community-based organizations, and social movements.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required
- 10 years of progressive experience, and demonstrated effectiveness, in designing and/or leading global and domestic US DEI frameworks
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, clear and compelling communication style, ability to connect and influence at all levels within complex matrixed environment, and ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written) in English
- Demonstrated aptitude in diagnosing key US and global DEI issues, and implementing cogent DEI strategies, plans, and transformation initiatives
- Experience operationalizing DEI strategies into concrete working plans in complex (ideally global and/or non-profit/social justice/or corporate) organizations
- Direct experience and demonstrated sensitivity with issues of cultural differences, structural racism, gender equity, justice, identity and expression, religious intolerance, ageism, ablism, sexual orientation, and disability
- Track record of partnering, influencing, challenge the status quo, and serving as a strategic partner to all levels within a complex, matrixed, global organization
- Demonstrated ability to exercise discretion; set and maintain standards for confidentiality, and use creativity and sound judgement in problem solving
