The British Embassy in Vilnius is looking for a Security Guard for the Foreign,  Commonwealth and Development Office’s Europe, Eastern Europe and Central Asia Directorates.

The successful candidate will be providing security guarding service to ensure the safety and security of Embassy staff members, visitors, customers, and contractors as well as protecting all properties within Embassy/Residence premises. Remaining alert and vigilant and pro-actively responding to incidents and emergencies in accordance the established security instructions and procedures.

Roles and responsibilities 

  • Security of all Staff & Properties;
  • To control access to Embassy / Residence;
  • To carry out search procedures of persons, vehicles, mail in line with States of Vigilance;
  • Regular patrols of Embassy and Residence grounds;
  • To report any security incidents / events to PSM / ROSM / PSO;
  • Maintaining all appropriate security logs;
  • To maintain and correctly use all security equipment to the required standard.

  • Fluency in Lithuanian (oral) and English*;
  • Completion of Secondary School;
  • Good communication and teamwork skills; 
  • Ability to work on shifts.

  • Previous experience in a similar position;
  • Knowledge of basic security principles and the use of security equipment & radio communication.

This is a full-time, one year fixed term contract with possible renewal of 40 gross hours per week (12 hours shifts).

All applicants should have the right to live and work in Lithuania. The British Embassy does not sponsor for work permits. Staff recruited locally by the British Embassy in Vilnius are subject to Terms and Conditions of Service according to local Lithuanian employment law.
