UNICEF works in some of the world’s toughest places, to reach the world’s most disadvantaged children. To save their lives. To defend their rights. To help them fulfill their potential.
Across 190 countries and territories, we work for every child, everywhere, every day, to build a better world for everyone.
And we never give up.
For every child, hope
The Private Sector Fundraising and Partnerships (PSFP) section within Private Fundraising and Partnerships Division (PFP) works with National Committees and UNICEF country offices to maximize income and drive income growth. There are five teams within the PSFP section, including Global Philanthropy. The purpose of the Global Philanthropy team is to drive income growth from major donors and family foundations.
UNICEF is moving forward an ambitious strategy of outreach to the world’s wealthiest individuals and families, to secure new partnerships and a coalition of influential individuals to advance children’s rights. As the initiative has initially focused on the impact of COVID-19 on children and UNICEF’s leading role in the procurement and delivery of COVID-19 vaccines on behalf of the COVAX Facility, this has led to increased support from existing donors and unprecedented giving from new supporters. The Global Philanthropy team will need to drive excellence in the communication of the impact private philanthropy has made in pushing for the equitable distribution of COVID-19 vaccines, tests, and treatments, while also designing strategies for the stewardship and retention of these critical partners for the longer-term needs of children in a post-COVID world.
UNICEF is seeking an individual contractor to design a global stewardship plan and improved recognition opportunities for the philanthropic partners who have supported UNICEF’s role in response to COVID-19.
How can you make a difference?
Reporting to PFP Global Philanthropy Fund Raising Manager (Major Donors), and working closely with philanthropy leads for various UNICEF Country Offices and National Committees, the individual contractor will work to improve the global offer of engagement for ultra-high net wealth donors, the design of new stewardship strategies as well as research and pipeline development for markets with high potential for engaging billionaire philanthropists.
MAIN TASKS
- Develop sophisticated and appealing global recognition opportunities that will help philanthropy leads engage this target audience of ultra-high net worth individuals and families.
- Research and identify philanthropists who want to use their influence to improve the lives of children, working in close coordination with UNICEF Country Offices and National Committees.
- Design a global stewardship plan for ultra-high net wealth donors to UNICEF for COVAX/ACT-A.
- Support the reference group of philanthropy colleagues around the world who lead the relationships with this portfolio of donors and prospects to maximize strategic collaboration.
- Work with philanthropy leads and Relationship Leaders to engage philanthropic partners at a global level for key moments and events in 2021-2022, e.g. UN General Assembly (UNGA), UN climate change conference (COP26), the Global Child and Youth Forum (CY21), and World Economic Forum.
- Provide research and insights on billionaire philanthropy to ensure that UNICEF is building strategies that are aligned with current events and trends.
DELIVERABLES
- A global communications recognition package for ultra-high net wealth individuals and families who make significant gifts to UNICEF.
- A refined prospect list of billionaires globally whose philanthropic goals are aligned with UNICEF’s mission.
- A global stewardship plan for ultra-high net wealth individuals and families who have made significant gifts for UNICEF’s role with COVAX/ACT-A that includes innovative offerings and links to existing products.
