1- Background:

Since 2012, The Lutheran World Federation (LWF) Jordan country program, with funding support from various related agencies and donors, has been responding to the Syrian emergency following the eruption of Syrian conflict 9 years ago, which led to a huge number of displaced populations, including over 650,000 refugees into Jordan. LWF has continued playing an active role in the coordination of emergency response including UNHCR led sector working groups. In addition, LWF is also an active member of ACT alliance at country and regional level. The LWF Jordan program activities focuses on the sectors of protection, basic needs, livelihood and education in the governorates of Mafraq, Irbid, Zarqa and Amman.

LWF Jordan is implementing a project funded by ELCA (the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America) aims to improve the diversity of food and nutrition security of Syrian refugees and host communities in Irbid governorate and increase the household’s income through Hydroponic System. Therefore, LWF Beneficiaries are fully equipped with the knowledge and tools for planting vegetables and fruits by Hydroponic agriculture.

2- Duties and Responsibilities

The Consultant will do the following tasks:

· Conducting training courses for 15 beneficiaries on How to plant vegetables and fruits by the hydroponic system from system design to harvesting)

· Preparing training materials and helping LWF on the technical part for instructions video.

· Choosing the most suitable hydroponics system, write its specifications, participating in its purchase, and supervising its installation.

· Follow up with the beneficiaries by answering their questions by phone for 2 months after they get the hydroponic system.

· Theoretical comprehension of small-scale farming (homestead garden)

· Practical knowledge on various aspects of small-scale vegetable production

· Practical knowledge of homemade production inputs – composting, pest control, etc.

· Conducting training courses for 10 beneficiaries on How to producing vegetables and fruits seedling by creating home nursery.

· Preparing training materials and helping LWF team in the video.

· Choosing the most suitable tools and materials to create home nursery, write its specifications, participating in its purchase, and supervising its installation.

· Follow up with the beneficiaries by answering their questions by phone for 2 months after they create the nurser

3- Scope of Work

Therefore, LWF Beneficiaries are fully equipped with the knowledge and tools for planting by hydroponic system.

The beneficiaries will use the hydroponic system and make the best use of it to increase their nutrition diversity and generate new income resources.

4- Expected Outputs and Deliverables

The Consultant will do:

· Final report for the service including materials, beneficiaries’ question, and process evaluation.

· Pre-and post-evaluations to the training.

· High quality training makes the beneficiaries able to planting vegetables and fruits by hydroponic in the best ways and tools and produce for fruit and vegetables.

· Practical training for beneficiaries wherever needed

· Focus on reaching results while ensuring an efficient process.

· Involve relevant parties and encourage feedback.

· Take ownership and initiative while aiming for innovation.

· Listen and speak effectively and honestly.

5- Indicators to evaluate the consultant’s performance

Performance indicators are:

· Quality of reports

· Feedback from livelihoods team and M&E officer.

6- Contract and Duration:

The services should be delivered between mid of September till December the 1st of 2021.

7- Duty Station:

Lutheran World Federation/ Jordan program / Irbid community center with possible visits to beneficiary’s location.

9- Qualifications and experience

Essential:

· University degree in agricultural engineering or any related field.

· A minimum of 7 years’ experience in climate-smart agriculture, urban agriculture and agribusiness development projects (preferably), working with international NGOs, collaborating with local government authorities, the private sector, agricultural cooperatives and CBOs;

· Proven experience of delivering assignments of similar nature

· Have certificates as a trainer on the subject above.

· Certified TOT.

· Demonstrate understanding of working with vulnerable beneficiaries, ability to respect the beneficiaries’ culture and beliefs and the ability to treat them all equally

· Arabic Speaker (Native).

· Previous experience in designing and facilitating trainings on related subject;

· Demonstrate understanding of working with vulnerable trainees, ability to respect the participants’ culture and beliefs and the ability to treat them all equally;

· Strong interpersonal and communication skills;

· Self-directed and able to take initiative;

· Commitment to LWF policies on promoting gender equality and diversity in the interests of marginalized people;

Desirable:

· Experience on Hydroponic planting**.**

· Experience on post harvest and packaging.

· Self-directed and able to take initiative
