Responsible for the day-to-day management of all administrative and operational activities and systems in support of the General Counsel’s Office (GCO) to include case management systems, legal document retention and access controls, data and file maintenance, department budgets and invoicing, communications and online presence, and supervision of support staff.  
 


Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities

-Participate in meetings with functional area leadership and within the GCO to understand the goals of the department and use this knowledge to lead the development of processes and procedures to improve operational activities. 

-Maintain, monitor, and provide day-to-day oversight of the GCO departmental budgets, office operations, and documents management systems.

-Understand and apply key requirements of the ABA’s digital content, records retention, and communications practices and apply them in reviewing, updating, maintaining, and distributing online materials and digital communications for the GCO.

-Partner with Information Technology to optimize business processes; leveraging available technology and identifying enhancements to increase efficiency and quality of department operations.

-Collaborate with department staff to ensure the effective use of technology, making recommendations on the use of data and technical tools, applications, and systems, and providing training to GCO staff, as needed.

-Use all available technology to effectively contribute to the maintenance of department data; drafting, running, and editing reports, to assist management in their practice.

-Manage administrative and operations projects, supervising GCO administrative staff and/or cross functional project teams and applying analytical and project management skills to prioritize and execute work in a timely manner.

-Performs other related duties as required.

 


Required Education, Qualifications, Experience

-Possession of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and at least three years’ experience; OR, possession of a high school diploma or GED and at least five years’ relevant professional experience.

-Previous working experience and strong technical knowledge of Microsoft Office, and Adobe Acrobat suite of applications.

-Previous experience working directly with the senior management of an organization.

 


Preferred Education, Qualifications, Experience

-Possession of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.

-Prior experience working in a law office or with General Counsel strongly preferred.
