Main Purpose of Job:
The British Embassy in Dakar is looking for a dynamic and proactive individual to join our team. We are seeking a fast learner who is capable of working on number of simultaneous projects.
The successful candidate will work on a high profile series of events around the Friends of the Gulf Guinea maritime security conference this year. The successful candidate will be expected to support the development and implementation of a communications plans, organise logistics and programmes, and provide translation. They will need to work with teams across the embassy, including the defence section and the communications team.
Expect to get stuck from the start, contribute ideas and prepare to learn a lot through hands-on experience. This is an opportunity develop a wide range of skills as well as gain experience working in an international environment.
Roles and responsibilities:
- Provide support in organising programmes for official visits.
- Support the development of communication plans, by creating specific digital communications plans, implementing them and monitoring impacts.
- Help on administrative tasks, including information management, contacting suppliers and task tracking.
- Provide translation of official documents and in meetings.
- Excellent communication skills (oral and written) in both English and French
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to work to tight deadlines and multi-task effectively
- Good team-working skills and the ability to develop productive relationships with other teams around the network.
- Relevant qualification and/or relevant experience
- Experience in supporting marketing/communications and event organisation
