The Faculty of Biological Sciences at the Friedrich Schiller University Jena invites applications for a
W3 Professorship Pharmaceutical Technology and Biopharmacy (m/f/d)
at the next possible date.
We are looking for an internationally recognized research personality, who represents the subject Pharmaceutical Technology and Biopharmacy in its entirety in research and teaching, and should be characterized by strengths in publication activity and competitive research. The research should focus on a current and innovative area of Pharmaceutical Technology and Biopharmacy. Successful acquisition of third-party funding, participation in joint research projects, as well as leadership skills are expected. The approbation as pharmacist is desired. Teaching in the subject area Pharmaceutical Technology and Biopharmacy within the State Examination Curriculum of Pharmacy is to be held in German language. In addition, theses in the diploma program Pharmacy are supervised. The participation in Master programs is welcome.
Candidates are expected to develop a research profile, which connects well with the professorships of the Institute of Pharmacy, the Faculty of Biological Sciences and neighboring faculties (Chemistry and Earth Sciences, Medicine) in the field of natural product research/microbiology, innovative materials or aging research. The expertise of the incumbent should support existing research consortia (Excellence Cluster Balance of the Microverse, SFB1278 PolyTarget, Septomics and the associated centers Jena Center for Soft Matter and Center for Sepsis Control & Care). The willingness to cooperate with working groups of subject-related areas of the university and non-university institutes, such as the Leibniz Institutes for Aging Research, Natural Product Research and Infection Biology, and Photonic Technologies is desired.
The prerequisites are a completed degree, a relevant doctorate, a Habilitation or equivalent academic achievement, as well as pedagogical aptitude. Appointment as a professor shall be for life as a civil servant, provided that the legal requirements are met.
