Urban Resilience Specialist

We work with governments, international development banks, including The World Bank and Inter-American Development Bank, UN agencies, NGOs and other partners in the international development and humanitarian assistance sector to help communities build resilience to natural disasters.

We are currently seeking an Urban Resilience Specialist who has a passion for international development work to become a member of our growing and dynamic International Development team. This position will be based in Washington DC.

Some of the central responsibilities of this position are:

• Support the ID team in expanding portfolio of urban resilience projects with the World Bank and other multilateral banks
• Coordinate and facilitate project implementation between the International Development and engineering teams
• Perform research, data collection and data analysis in the urban resilience, urban planning, climate change and housing sectors
• Write-up detailed, technical reports
• Provide budgeting support

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in climate change, urban planning, resilience, or related field. Master’s degree advantageous
• 3+ years work experience in Disaster Risk Reduction, urban planning and international development
• Strong technical, research and writing skills
• Experience with emerging markets
• Experience working with World Bank and other development banks preferred
• Creative, resourceful self-starter and multi-tasker with excellent organization and planning skills, as well as the ability to be flexible, problem solve independently and work well with remote, global teams
