The Public Partnerships Division (PPD) works to strengthen UNICEF’s position as a partner of choice for children’s rights among governments and public actors around the world. Along with the Private Fundraising and Partnerships Division (PFP), PPD advocates for sustainable partnerships, and mobilize flexible and predictable resources to achieve UNICEF’s Strategic Plan results in the context of Agenda 2030.

How can you make a difference?

The Public Partnerships Officer in the Public Partnerships Division is part of the team responsible for the relationship with several European partners, including Germany. This position reports to the Public Partnerships Manager in Berlin, and supports on the liaison to the different partners and stakeholders in the German development and humanitarian community, including the Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the Federal Foreign Office (AA), the Federal Chancellery, and also coordinates closely with the National Committee for UNICEF in Germany.

  • Lead on the development of partner engagement elements with a focus on new political stakeholders, e.g. virtual field trips, (online) events, presentations or curated analysis.
  • Manage content development of priority topics such as adolescent engagement and participation or MHPSS.
  • Deliver specific work items in the joint communications plan as defined for each time box, including liaison with stakeholders to coordinate on key moments and research for tweets.
  • Conduct regular Social Media / Visibility analysis and monitoring.
  • Strengthen partner engagement data in the CRM, specifically for briefing notes and opportunities.
  • Provide cluster and field support, including webinars, projections analysis, grants monitoring and CRM data quality assurance.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • A university degree (Bachelor’s or higher) in one of the following fields: international relations, political science, communications, international development, or another relevant technical field is required.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of relevant professional experience in one or more of the following areas is required: public affairs, programme management, resource mobilization, external relations, or other relevant area.
  • Experience in UNICEF’s ways of working and information flows, especially from a public partnership perspective, is required.
  • Experience in interacting with German Ministries is required.
  • Candidates with in-depth knowledge of a range of development topics, including gender, adolescent engagement, MHPSS, resilience building, will be preferred.
  • Proven stakeholder management and coordination skills across different business units are required.
  • Experience with virtual field visits organization is highly desired.
  • Familiarity with Customer Relationship Management platforms, data cleaning and validation is an asset.
  • Fluency in English and German (written and verbal) is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) is an asset.

Duty Station

This duty station is outposted in Berlin. Consultant will work remotely unless other arrangements are requested by the Office. 


Duration:

11.5 months (Beginning October 2021 through September 2022)

Travel

For individual contractors and consultants, all travel arrangements to commence the assignment, including insurance and visas, will be managed and paid by the individual.  Therefore, expected travel costs must be included as a budget item in the financial proposal.  Should “mission travel” be required, UNICEF will manage and pay for travel via Travel Authorization.  However, this will be subject to the following prerequisites:  Medical Clearance, Security Clearance through the Travel Request Information Process (TRIP) system, the Basic and Advanced Security in the Field Trainings, Travel Visa, and liability waiver. The consultant/individual contractor is responsible for arranging his/her own travel and submit invoices to UNICEF for payment as part of the contract.

Insurance:

UNICEF will not be responsible for costs arising from accidents and/or illness incurred during the consultant’s service. Therefore, the selected candidate must provide proof of enrollment in a health/accident plan prior to starting his/her work.
