JOB BRIEF
The Program Specialist will join USIP’s Global Campus team which collaborates with top experts and peacebuilding institutions to produce online courses, podcasts, and other virtual training for a large and growing global audience. She/he will be the primary interlocutor to serve and directly engage with the Global Campus community of peacebuilders worldwide. The Program Specialist will also work closely with many USIP programs (thematic and country) to onboard and support programmatic communities of practice within the Global Campus. She/he will also collaborate with USIP programs to assist in designing and implementing a variety of hybrid training opportunities that blend in-person and online training and oversee a suite of managerial and administrative duties to provide overall support to USIP’s Global Campus program. This position is based in Washington, DC, and reports to the Director of the Global Campus.
TARGET SALARY RANGE
Grade 10 – $66,000 – $68,000
The Institute uses the General Schedule salary tables for administering compensation. Contractor offers are determined based upon candidate qualifications, related experience, internal equity, and the amount budgeted for the position.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Global Campus and Digital Community:
• Assists with the onboarding, development, moderation, and growth of online communities of practice (CoPs) in collaboration with thematic and country programs across the Institute.
• Serves as the first point of contact and support to the global community of learners.
• Engages the community with regular tools, resources, discussions, and activities.
• In collaboration with USIP thematic and country programs, assists with designing experiential learning that combines in-person training with virtual engagements and community building.
• Supports partnership opportunities with other peacebuilding organizations worldwide.
Administrative:
• Provides administrative support and logistics for a regular series of live virtual events and podcasts in coordination with course instructors, SMEs, and trainers.
• Assists in the production and post-production of video and audio products.
• Trains and mentors research assistants.
• Provides excellent customer service, registration support, and certificate support to members.
• Manages the annual evaluation of registration process and makes recommendations for improvement of registration and outreach. Maintains registration software and is responsible for the accuracy of the data.
• Coordinates and implements virtual events related to courses and podcasts.
Budget and Contract Management:
• As Contracting Officer Technical Representative (COTR), oversees budget planning, tracking, and reporting including processing requisitions, invoices, receipts, and writes contracts and budgets for the entire volume of program funds.
• Assist with the program budget including the processing of requisitions, invoices, receipts, and contracts.
Partnerships and Outreach:
• Manages partnership requests with external contacts relating to Global Campus courses.
• As the main POC, represents the organization in providing solutions to any issues that arise and managing any partnership requests and administrative responsibilities.
• Maintains current partnership relationships as well as reaches out to new institutions to raise awareness about Global Campus courses.
Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree in communications, international relations, business administration, or related fields required.
• Four (4) or more years related online community-of-practice and program-management experience with a bachelor’s degree, or two (2) or more years related experience with a master’s degree.
• Experience in marketing and outreach is preferred.
• Web-development experience preferred.
• Instructional design, education, and/or training experience.
• Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail; adept at multitasking.
• Excellent customer service.
• Problem solver who can offer creative solutions.
