The UNICEF’s Humanitarian Knowledge Management ambition is to contribute directly to preparing, saving and protecting more lives and livelihoods of children and their families through better, and better available, evidence and learning in support of humanitarian programmes for all our partners, our staff, other interested parties and affected populations themselves The Humanitarian Practice web portal http://corecommitments.unicef.org was launched in April 2020 as a pilot platform to provide a modern, accessible and user-friendly platform to communicate the new CCCs online; improve access to relevant humanitarian know-how resources (e.g. learning, guidance, tools and templates) for practitioners, including UNICEF implementation partners, everywhere; publish COVID-19 resources for practitioners and partners worldwide; and to host the online elements of the LHD quality review process (publishing project). The site is hosted on WIX platform. After 18 months of implementing the pilot platform a lot of lessons were learned and new features and development needs were identified to enhance and stabilize the platform. The purpose of this consultancy is to enhance the functionalities and incorporate new WIX features and user-identified development ideas to stabilize the portal. |
How can you make a difference?

Our idea is to modernize and democratize humanitarian know-how by creating an innovative new online platform. A platform to enable more and new types of digital media for all types of devices and users; integrated humanitarian knowledge and learning content; new functionality for collaboration and data collection; and updated codification and quality processes to improve findability, speed and relevance of content for users. For the user – finding the content they want, sharing knowledge, reacting, connecting with people, online learning, online competency measurement, data-driven content recommendations, content personalization, and customization. For UNICEF – the publishing process, editing/modifying, manage communities, manage content (WCMS), a digital paradigm for content (non-document), video and podcast publishing, modern digital learning types and functionality, omnichannel functionality and LMS functionality For content owner – Hierarchical classification Taxonomy with multiple value possible
This is a remote / home-based consultancy. The contract has an intended starting date of 1 November 2021 for a 4-month duration.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…
-
•Bachelor’s degree in design or a similar field and 5+ years of web design and or web content creation and management experience
•Strong experience of the WIX website builder, Microsoft SharePoint, and familiarity with the Microsoft Office365 Suite.
•Experience with web site analytics and usage reporting
•Experience in SEO with a focus on humanitarian content findability
•Experience in page performance optimization and multi-platform performance (mobile)
•Excellent communications skills, especially written communications, collaboration skills, and ability to interact in a diverse user community.
•Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
•Fluency in English (verbal and written) is required. Knowledge of an additional UN Language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish) is considered an asset.
•Prior experience working a humanitarian organization is desirable.
