The Human Technopole Foundation (HT) is a new interdisciplinary research institute, created and supported by the Italian government, whose aim is to develop innovative strategies to promote human health and aging through a multidisciplinary and integrated approach, combining genomics, computational and structural biology and neuroscience, as well as data and decisions sciences.
The Health Data Science Centre at HT has been planned in partnership with Politecnico di Milano and will develop several lines of research, with the aim to help deliver a step-change in health data science in Italy. The Centre’s mission is to systematically generate, mobilise, and harvest “big data” allowing agnostic and dynamic collection of information, to deliver a new class of research that will enable a better understanding of the clinical, molecular, behavioural and environmental determinants of non-communicable diseases, for both patient and public benefit.
We are seeking to recruit a scientific project manager to support the activities of the Centre. The role will provide, operational and management support to the Head of Centre and other senior members of the team and assist with management of scientific research projects and activities that underpin the Health Data Science Centre strategic plan.
S(he) will have the following responsibilities:
- Provide operational support for the Centre’s Head and
representation, both internally and externally, at project meetings; - Support the management of projects and consortia led by the Centre’s Head and other senior staff;
- Help to plan, and execute large-scale projects of high risk and complexity, together with delivery of multiple medium sized projects;
- Liaise with finance business partners to ensure timely delivery of internal and external reporting and management functions;
- Engage and interact with existing and potential collaborators;
- Assist with the management of key collaborations.
- Esternally, s(he) will operate at a high level, meeting stakeholders, universities and research institutes, nationally and internationally;
- Internally s(he) will liaise with science leads, comms and finance partners to ensure successful project establishment, timely reporting and stakeholder communications.
Job requirements
- Background in research and project management, ideally with experience in epidemiological and/or health-related large-scale projects although there is flexibility depending upon prior experience;
- BSc/BA or higher qualification in a scientific discipline or depending upon experience a degree in business, economics or management.
- A qualification or training in project management will be considered a plus;
- Experience in dealing with varied stakeholders internal/external managing complex problems;
- Evidence of high-level strategic delivery in a research environment;
- Ability to prepare chair meetings;
- Clear communicator to a diversity of stakeholders and collaborators;
- Strong interpersonal skills and be able to act with tact and diplomacy;
- Collaborative attitude;
- Excellent organisational skills;
- Fluent command of English is essential.
