Strong capacity and leadership in coordinating a humanitarian nutrition response is fundamental to saving lives and scaling up nutrition programmes in a manner that is predictable, timely and effective. At a global level, the Global Nutrition Cluster (GNC) led by UNICEF, has made significant progress since 2006 in bringing together nutrition partners to support a coherent emergency response. As a part of its cluster lead agency responsibilities, UNICEF is responsible for supporting capacity building among UNICEF staff and partners in the areas of cluster coordination, information management and nutrition in emergencies programming.
Maintaining and scaling up global capacity in nutrition cluster coordination and nutrition information management has remained a persistent challenge over the years due to high staff turnover and a limited pool of available profiles. Traditional capacity-building models (i.e. face-to-face trainings) have struggled to keep up with the increased demand for knowledge and skills at local level. The Global Nutrition Cluster (GNC) is therefore in the process of developing an online e-learning platform to develop capacity in nutrition cluster coordination and nutrition information management. This online e-learning platform will provide learning content based on the recently developed competency frameworks in cluster coordination and information management. As part of the e-learning platform development, the materials and content for specific competencies/learning paths need to be developed. The GNC is looking for a suitable candidate to create the e-learning modules for the learning path on nutrition cluster advocacy. The development of these e-learning modules would be carried out in close collaboration with the project manager assigned to creating the cluster coordination e-learning materials and overseeing the whole project.
How can you make a difference?
The consultant will be expected to perform the following tasks:
- Review existing advocacy resources and validate the structure of the modules necessary for the learning path on nutrition cluster advocacy
- Develop/create the modules for e-learning on nutrition cluster advocacy (estimated 12 modules to be developed – to be confirmed.)
- Develop video/animation storyboards for presenting sections of the content developed and/or record 5-10 minutes videos/webinars where relevant
- Collaborate with the GNC capacity development project manager to ensure coherence of the materials with the cluster coordination learning materials developed
- Provide input on optimal andragogical approaches for online learning as related to advocacy module
- Provide input/suggestions into the development and structure of the e-learning platform as related to advocacy (learning pathways, certification process, evaluation process…etc.)
- As a part of the modules, develop a 3-questions quiz for each module.
- Develop suggestions (i.e. assessments and/or assignments) for the final evaluation process on advocacy competency)
