The Institute for Immunity, Transplantation and Infection at Stanford University is seeking applicants at the rank of Assistant Professor with demonstrated research expertise and interest in the human immunological aspects of one or more of the following areas: inflammatory disease, autoimmune diseases, immunologic mechanisms of infectious disease, vaccination, informatics, or related areas. The candidate must hold an MD, MD/PhD, predominantly or PhD’s who are uniquely accomplished in these areas, and be qualified for appointment to a faculty position at Stanford University. The position will be in the University Tenure Line, with the expectation that time will be split among research, mentoring/teaching activities and (for those with the appropriate MD training) clinical service.
- The predominant criterion for appointment in the University Tenure Line is a major commitment to research and teaching.
- The candidate should have demonstrated during his or her postdoctoral training a commitment to develop the skills necessary for first-rate teaching. In short, the successful candidate must have demonstrated true distinction (or the promise of achieving true distinction) in research, and the capability of sustaining first-rate performance (or the promise of this) in teaching, and appropriate to the programmatic need upon which the appointment is based.
- The major criteria for appointment for faculty in the University Tenure Line shall be excellence in the overall mix of research and institutional service appropriate to the programmatic need the individual is expected to fulfill. The successful candidate will be expected to have outstanding research, clinical and/or teaching skills. The candidate is required to contribute to the research programs, and either have an established track record of funded research or have demonstrated the ability or shown the potential to obtain peer-reviewed research funding relevant to diverse areas, within infectious diseases, vaccinology, or autoimmune diseases.
The position will be based at the Stanford University Medical Center.
