Serve as manager and member of the management team for designated division/center, helping it to meet its strategic goals. Contributes to management, program and product development, finance and administration, and staff supervision. Engages in external outreach and provides consultation and technical assistance. Delegated responsibility for generating non-dues revenue.

 


Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities

-Management and Leadership. Helps manage the programs and operations of the division/center. Advances its strategic goals. Conducts program and operational evaluations. Provides guidance to leaders, members, and staff. Serves as primary staff liaison to standing committees, commissions and affiliated groups. Makes recommendations for presidential committee appointments.

-External Outreach. Represents ABA to external organizations. Makes presentations at national and regional conferences and meetings. Writes articles for outside publications. Provides consultations and technical assistance. Conducts trainings. Prepares speeches and other materials for Association leaders.

-Education-Related Planning and Development. Conceptualizes new programs and publications. Operates entrepreneurially to generate non-dues revenues and secure outside funding. Cultivates prospective business partners and funders, including corporate sponsors.

-Educational Program and Product Development. Implements educational programs, publications, products, curriculum, and services to members, the public, the bar and other organizations.

-Staff Development and Supervision. Oversees staff performance and professional development.

-Finance and Administration. Manages day-to-day financial and administrative operations, including budgets funded from diverse sources (including outside-funded).

-Performs other related duties as required.

 


Required Education, Qualifications, Experience

-Master’s Degree (or equivalent experience)

-Requires 5+ years experience in designated field.

-Experience in staff management, association management, educational program and curriculum planning, professional development, publishing, marketing, research, fundraising/development, administration, and project management is required.

-Proven understanding of and experience with educational principles/strategies, and a variety of knowledge delivery systems (presentations, publishing, technology-based vehicles).

-Demonstrated excellence in both written and oral communications for analytic and persuasive purposes, coupled with expertise in instructional and communications technologies.

-Must be creative, flexible and adaptable to respond to emerging trends and new directions affecting law and education.

-The ability to work effectively with members and other staff is mandatory.

 


Preferred Education, Qualifications, Experience

 

-Doctoral degree preferred.

-Certificates indicating formal training in such areas as distance learning, event management, association management, marketing, finance or research preferred, as appropriate.
