Job Title

Scientist in Technical R&D Drug Product

We are seeking a highly motivated, enthusiastic and skilled scientist to join the Global Drug Product Unit team within GSK Technical Research and Development located in Siena, Italy. The mission of the Technical Research and Development group is to deliver and transfer stable vaccine formulations and robust processes (fill & finish) to the clinical and manufacturing sites within GSK Vaccines network.

In this role you will…

• Provide knowledge of principles and concepts to define process understanding activities for vaccines at different development stages following the quality by design framework.
• Participate in drug product development programs where you will design, conduct, interpret, and present the results of formulation (i.e. mixing/shear stress studies) and process development studies (filling, filtration and lyophilization) with the focus on the stabilization of the mRNA formulation.
• Generate strong relationships in the area of technical development with high quality partners beneficial to the organization, both internally and externally, to strength development/implementation of new methods/technologies.
• Execute scientific and technical activities and participate to the execution of vaccine trial material to be used in GLP non-clinical safety studies
• Support the Technical Transfer of the drug product manufacturing process to the GMP production facilities
• Author and review technical protocols and reports on projects at various development stages, also in support of Regulatory submissions
• Make sound scientific/technical decisions based on a balance of data, analysis and experience.

Our GSK Technical Research & Development is a global organization within the matrix environment comprising experts from several functions. The successful candidate will collaborate with peers, managers and scientific staff within a team of people with remarkable dedication and agility to face the new challenges in the vaccine development.

Why you?
Qualifications & Skills:

• Degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Biotechnology , Pharmaceutical Science, or related scientific fields.
BS & 6+ years or MS & 3+ years or PhD & 0 years of experience
• Good understanding of vaccine/biopharma manufacturing process. Knowledge of the lyophilization principles is a must.
• Fluent in spoken and written in English
• Ability to work with cross-functional teams and communicate effectively
• Good attitude to solve complex problems through collaborations with others, taking a new perspective on existing solutions

Preferred Qualifications & Skills:

• Be Proactive and self-motivated
• Experience in making decisions
• Knowledge of Quality by Design framework is an asset.
• Experience in technology transfer and industrialization is a plus.
