BACKGROUND

CHAT provides recommendations and develops technical products for child health and well-being concerning the ages from 1 month to 9 years and covering the three domains of acute and prevention; health promotion and development; and chronic illnesses, injuries, disability and violence against children. The aims of this consultancy are to:

1. Support the UNICEF-WHO CHAT secretariat by organizing calls and meetings of the three sub-working groups, taking minutes of these meetings and making sure all action points are followed up on.

2.  Support the CHAT group on developing a research plan for improving indicators on childhood pneumonia and diarrhea

3.  Support the CHAT group on the development of papers on quality of care and effective coverage for peer review publication (that focus on recommended indicators and metadata).

4. Prepare metadata sheets for the core set of CHAT recommended indicators.

5. Collect feedback on the on-line CHAT-MONITOR-GAMA indicator tool and revise the tool accordingly.

Terms of Reference / Deliverables

In close collaboration and working with the Senior Advisor, Health and HIV, the consultant will support the Health and HIV team :  To support the work of the UNICEF-WHO Child Health Accountability Tracking advisory group (CHAT) in the production of products around quality of care and effective coverage, and on the CHAT’s recommended set of indicators on child health and well-being

Responsibilities include the following:

  1. Organize, take minutes from CHAT meetings, and follow up on action points
  2. Develop research plan for improving indicators on childhood pneumonia and diarrhea
  3. Support the CHAT group on preparing papers on quality of care and effective coverage for publication
  4. Prepare metadata sheets for the core set of CHAT recommended indicators
  5. Collect feedback on the on-line CHAT-MONITOR-GAMA indicator tool and revise the tool    accordingly

Qualifications

1) Education

● An advanced university degree in demography, global health, public health, social sciences, medicine, or epidemiology.

2) Work experience

●Five years of work experience at the national or international levels on child health and well-being.

3) Competencies

● Strong organizational, planning, and analytical skills

● Excellent written and verbal communication in English

● Good judgment, initiative, high sense of responsibility, tact and discretion

● Demonstrated cultural sensitivity and ability to establish harmonious working relations in a multicultural environment.

Requirements:

  • Completed profile in UNICEF’s e-Recruitment system and provide Personal History Form (P11) Upload copy of academic credentials
  • Financial proposal that will include:
  • your daily/monthly rate (in US$) to undertake the terms of reference
    • travel costs and daily subsistence allowance, if internationally recruited or travel is required as per TOR.
    • Any other estimated costs: visa, health insurance, and living costs as applicable.
    • Indicate your availability
  • Any emergent / unforeseen duty travel and related expenses will be covered by UNICEF.
  • At the time the contract is awarded, the selected candidate must have in place current health insurance coverage.
  • Payment of professional fees will be based on submission of agreed satisfactory deliverables. UNICEF reserves the right to withhold payment in case the deliverables submitted are not up to the required standard or in case of delays in submitting the deliverables on the part of the consultant.

U.S. Visa information:

With the exception of the US Citizens, G4 Visa and Green Card holders, should the selected candidate and his/her household members reside in the United States under a different visa, the consultant and his/her household members are required to change their visa status to G4, and the consultant’s household members (spouse) will require an Employment Authorization Card (EAD) to be able to work, even if he/she was authorized to work under the visa held prior to switching to G4.

Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws.
