Main purpose of job:
The Communications Officer works to promote UK values and reputation through presswork, strategic campaigns (including digital) and stating events.
Roles and responsibilities / what will the jobholder be expected to achieve?:
Design the Embassy digital strategy and manage content and campaigns for all Embassy digital channels: website, Facebook, Twitter Instagram and YouTube. Identify and engage with key digital stakeholders in the Argentine context. Provide evaluation through trimestral and on-demand reports.
Draft press releases, mailshots, website articles, briefings and speeches as required.
Assist with media management and social media coverage (including pictures and videos) at Embassy events..
Assist the Embassy Head of Communications to provide daily news updates and analysis for the Ambassador and other internal stakeholders.
Assist the Embassy Head of Communications to develop public relations campaigns which promote the UK, for example via the GREAT campaign.
Ensure all material produced by the Embassy follows the branding guidelines. Develop and redesign new material as necessary.
Manage the Communications Office budget.
Line manage the Comms intern.
Essential on arrival:
· Excellent writing/drafting skills in both languages
· Experience in managing social media accounts (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and/or YouTube)
· Working experience (2 years or more) in communications (including digital), public relations, event management, press or marketing
· Basic graphic designing skills
· Basic photo and video editing skills
· Research skills (assessing various sources, Internet searches)
· Basic understanding of current affairs / political environment / foreign policy
· Proactive and flexible team player
Ability to network
Desirable:
· A communications related university degree would be an advantage
· Knowledge of digital advertising tools (for example, Google Ads / Facebook Ads)
· An existing broad range of contacts across the PR/media sector in Argentina
