Summary
The Department of Molecular Virology and Microbiology is a multidisciplinary and highly collaborative environment with strong emphasis on basic research and translating those findings into practical applications to prevent and treat microbial infections. The successful candidate will benefit from collaborations with leading experts in microbial pathogenesis, with a focus on virus-host interactions and viral pathogenesis, and biomedical engineering to develop biomimetic human organoid cultures to understand infectious diseases.
Job Duties
- Designs, directs, and conducts specialized and advanced research experiments.
- Works independently and in conjunction with others who are part of the human biomimetic research team.
- Evaluates and analyzes data.
- Establishes new research protocols and procedures.
- Summarizes research findings in lab meetings and local and NIH-sponsored meetings.
- Acquires exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Presents research findings at national meetings.
- Publish results in research journals.
- Trains students and other team members.
Minimum Qualifications
- MD or Ph.D. in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in mucosal viral infections in primary cell cultures.
- Previous experience in RNA Seq analyses is ideal, but not required.
