Position: Food Safety Enumerator

Location: Suran & Dana Field Offices

Assignment: The Food Safety Enumerator under the supervision of Food Monitoring will be responsible for assisting the food monitor in the implementation of ACTED’s food security and nutrition projects by providing close monitoring of food safety and nutrition related matters to the programme and logistic teams.**

OBJECTIVES

The role of the Food Safety Enumerator is to provide needed support to the food monitoring activities of ACTED’s food security-related projects. This will through the following key tasks;

· Supporting the food monitor in doing quality checks related to food safety.

· Providing assistance in training local vendor, communities, staff and beneficiaries on nutrition and food safety related matters.

· Monitoring food safety during the distribution of food baskets.

· Ensuring food safety in selected food vendor.

· Helping in doing assessment related to food safety and nutrition projects.

· Support organizational learning by ensuring adherence to program technical guidelines, lessons learned, and best practices.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Support to food monitoring activities:

· Support to the food monitor and program team during the technical check for local vendors.

· Helping in performing random checks and food safety training for selected local vendor.

· Monitoring safe storage and hygienic practices of selected local vendor.

· Supporting the program team during the distribution periods and insuring food safety.

· Provide help with food safety and nutrition training to beneficiaries.

· Helping the food monitor in insuring safe storing practices in ACTED warehouses.

· Monitoring the status of packaging of ACTED food baskets.

Key Working Relationships:

  • Supervised by: Emergency Food Monitor

  • Internal: Food Safety and Quality Officer, Emergency Project Manager, Senior Emergency officer, Emergency officer, AME, PR and Logistic teams.

  • External: Community Leaders, Local Councils, Contracted Vendors, Program Participants. Beneficiaries. **

Required Knowledge and Experience:

· High school degree.

· NGOs experience, 2 years in relevant fields.

· Good background in food safety and nutrition.

· Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment.

· Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment.

· Ability to learn and adapt new skills.

· Willingness to work under pressure and extra hours.

· Good computer skills.
