The British Embassy in Tbilisi is part of a worldwide network, representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas and we are now looking for a casual employment driver.

The jobholder will be the part of the corporate services section and will be responsible for providing driving services for the Embassy on ad-hoc basis. When applying please ensure that you are available for casual employment with the British Embassy.

 Roles and responsibilities:

  • Driving Embassy staff and visitors in an official vehicle (including regional trips).
  • Delivering official mail including invitations.
  • Keeping the vehicle clean and serviceable in line with Embassy’s transport policy and manufacturer’s manual.
  • Keeping an accurate record of all journeys in a vehicle log book.
  • Ensuring that timesheets are maintained and submitted on time.
  • Compliance with Embassy’s transport policy.
  • Providing assistance with courier runs.
  • Registration of diplomatic registrations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Valid driving license ( Impeccable driving record with clean driving license).
  • Minimum 6 years of driving experience.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional early mornings and evenings.
  • Good customer service and communication skills.
  • Fluent in English and Georgian, including excellent writing skills (written and spoken, minimum of B2 level for CEFR framework*);      

  • Experience of working for an international organisation would be desirable.
  • Experience in driving diplomatic or VIP personnel preferred.
  • Knowledge of Russian language is desirable (written and spoken, B2 level for CEFR framework*);

This is a temporary position; Number of hours to be determined ad-hoc and when required by the Embassy.

The gross hourly salary is GEL 11.40 per hr during normal working hrs (Monday-Friday from 9am to 6pm), GEL 17.11 per overtime hr (outside normal working hrs), GEL 22.82 per hr during week-ends and public holidays Please note that staff members are responsible for paying any income tax and state pension contributions required by local law.

The successful candidate will be subject to a professional background check and security clearance.

Staff recruited locally by the British Embassy in Tbilisi is subject to local Terms and Conditions of Service.
