Summary of position:
Under the general supervision of the Readiness and Security Program Manager (RSPM) based at the Embassy of Canada in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, the Security Program Assistant provides administrative support services, generates information and documentation, provides support for current program activities, responds to requests for service from clients and performs other tasks when necessary.


Essential qualifications:
Candidates will initially be screened against the Essential Qualifications relating to education, experience and language. Candidates must clearly demonstrate in their cover letter and CV how they meet each of these essential qualifications.

Education:

• Have obtained a diploma from a recognized university (Bac + 3) in a discipline related to the requirements of the job (eg administration, finance, accounting); or combination of education and equivalent work experience.

Language:

• Fluency in French (oral and written).

Experience:

• Have a recent professional experience * of at least three (03) years in a position associated with administration and finance within a diplomatic mission, a consulate, an international organization or a large company;
• Recent professional experience * of at least three (03) years with the Microsoft Office suite (Word & Outlook).

* Recent is defined as over the past 5 years.

Rated Requirements

The Rated Requirements relating to knowledge, abilities, personal suitability and competencies will also be assessed. Methods of assessment may include, but are not limited to, a written examination, an oral interview, role-play, practical tests, presentations and/or psychometric assessment.

Knowledge:

• Knowledge of general procedures and administrative practices;
• Knowledge of financial and accounting procedures and practices;
• Knowledge of Microsoft Excel.

Asset Qualifications:
Preference may be given to candidates who meet the Asset Qualifications. Where applicable, candidates must clearly demonstrate how they meet any asset qualifications in their cover letter and CV.

• Fluency in English (oral & written);
• Experience in an organization serving Canadian clients.


Organizational Needs:


Operational Requirements:
• The regular hours of work for the incumbent are in accordance with the regulations for locally engaged staff, i.e. 37.5 hours per week. The successful candidate must be able to work overtime on evenings and / or weekends as needed.


Condition(s) of Employment:
• The successful candidate must be able to legally work and reside in Burkina Faso;
• Applicants must have a valid work permit covering the entire period of employment. If the position is of an indeterminate nature, the work permit should be permanent or itself able to lead to a permanent work permit;
• Before a job offer can be made, applicants must provide a local address as proof of residency, in the country, city or region given that, if selected, will appear on the letter of offer;
• Obtain and maintain a Government of Canada Reliability Status (security clearance) covering the entire period of employment.
